Do you greet your cashier?...

This is edible art...
I always greet people when I enter a room or place of business. It's quite normal for me but I have to remind myself that everyone is raised different. I believe it's just human decency to give a person who's going to interact with you an initial greeting. HELLOOOO!! It's not hard... just two syllables.
Everytime I go to a store, I always greet the cashier. The funny thing is that sometimes they're surprised that I spoke. The reason... is that everyone doesn't speak...and that's rude. What's going on?? This country is broken... ppl have lost respect for one another and it's very sad. The thing is, we as individuals should never allow our decency to be taken. Never allow anyone or anything to steal our joy or human nature to be kind to one another.
Today I went to one of the worst places... the USPS. I don't know what's in the air over there but honey... those people are rude and unhappy all the time. At least at my local post office 11207. I always greet them and if it's a good day, I might get a returned greeting. Every time and I mean everytime I go there it's like pulling up to a Jamaican restaurant in New York... IYKYK! Rude!!
I had a complicated transaction and this was my fourth time trying to rectify it. I already spoke to the clerks at the window and a supervisor and was told to come back and speak with a manager. Cool I came back today... the first thing, how are you doing? The clerk had the scowl face so obviously this is the energy of his day. I explain my issue and asked to speak to the MANAGER! He asked me to step aside to another window and the SUPERVISOR will speak with me... I said I would like to speak to the MANAGER!. He nodded and walks away. Then a clerk that I already spoke to comes to the window... WHY WHY are these people playing in my face!!! I knew she wasn't a SUPERVISOR!! So she tells me whatever came to mind which I knew was inaccurate, so I told her that I wanted to speak to the MANAGER! The REAL manager came out and we discussed my issue.
What's with the game playing??? I know how it is to work with a team and look out for one another. However, if a person ever asked to speak to a superior by all means let that person do the job they're paid to do!! The vibe was like they covered each others back which is cool but don't insult or misinform the customers bc you don't feel like asking someone else to do the job they're paid to do. Make it make sense... wouldn't your day go better if you could just focus on your job instead of trying to be the manager and the clerk...ijs?
I left slightly annoyed but relieved that I didn't work there in that toxic and hostile environment. They have an ad that says they're hiring... HA!! The people that already work there obviously don't want to work there. There is no way you can attract people to work for a place that stresses out every employee from the bottom up. I have had excellent and very pleasant mail carriers. They're out here in the worst weather but they always manage to smile and greet me.
The USPS need to have an overhaul... maybe alternate the clerks to be carriers at least one month and the carriers allowed to be indoors. This may give them a reality check on how to be grateful for the benefit of being indoors instead of out in these streets. Also when you accept a job you know what you signed up for and if you don't like if just LEAVE!
The next time you check out look up... the cashier would love to be greeted! You may be the brightest part of their day and maybe the only person to speak to them. However, if they send you to self checkout let them know that you don't work there... lol. I want to thank you for reading my blog(s) and please come back. I hope you enjoy my rants and experiences... sometimes you need to tell someone to get clarity or a different perspective. Feel free to chime in... let's talk about it!
